My Voice in a Quilt

A collective exhibition of textile artworks handcrafted by newcomer Syrian women in Toronto.

Each quilt piece tells a story woven with emotion, memory, and hope.
Together, they create a shared tapestry of resilience, connection, and beauty.

This exhibition presents a collective artwork of quilts created by newcomer Syrian women in Toronto. Each quilt is composed of individual pieces, every piece handcrafted by one woman, reflecting her emotions, memories, and personal story. The quilts serve as a space for storytelling and emotional expression, where women gather to share, support one another, and transform their lived experiences into art. Through stitches, colours, and fabrics, they weave their narratives—stories of loss and resilience, displacement and belonging, pain and hope. Together, these quilts form a shared tapestry, a collective voice rising from women’s hearts, creating beauty and solidarity through the art of textile making.
