Description

This cushion is unique in this world. The product of several weeks of intricate work, it has been signed by its proud maker – you can just make out the yellow stitches in the red top right corner. A large and extraordinary piece like this enables one of our Syrian refugee woman to support her family for a month.

The Design

The Bedouin are a nomadic people found throughout the Levant. In this region Bedouin women have long been famous for their distinctive embroidery, weaving and beading, passing down skills and patterns from mother to daughter. The colours and the design of this cushion is our homage to this rich culture.

The Impact

All profit from sales is used to employ more women and to continue Sabbara’s work on female empowerment. Sabbara was established inside Syria in 2012 in response to the escalating war and its devastating consequences for families all over the country. Its aim is to train women in traditional skills, create a sustainable infrastructure for production, and develop an international market.
