Ah Fayrouz! In the morning Syrian radio stations and coffee shops only play music by this Lebanese singer. How many times we have woken up to the sound of her distinctive and sublime voice.. How it takes us back..

Fayrouz is Arabic for ‘turquoise’ and seemed a fitting name for this cushion with its turquoise notes.

The final picture here shows our heroine (left) with another of the greats, Egypt’s Umm Kalthoum.

This cushion’s impact:

Like all our work, this cushion was made by displaced Syrian women who have lost everything, yet through Sabbara find a dignified income, a supportive community, and a creative outlet for trauma.

100% of sales profit is used to employ more women and continue Sabbara’s work on female empowerment.

Sabbara was established inside Syria in 2012 in response to the escalating war and its devastating consequences for families all over the country. We work to empower displaced women through creativity, arts therapy, and income generation.
